Chauffeur's Cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside, yet only one mile from the coast and a short walk downhill to a well-known Exmoor pub. This single storey cottage, which provides a home-from-home for a couple plus their two dogs, is less than half a mile from Hunter’s Inn – one of the area’s most famous character inns within the stunning Heddon Valley. Offering spacious accommodation, Chauffeur's Cottage is one of only three cottages situated down a private drive near Martinhoe, a small village between Combe Martin and Lynton. A pretty covered patio with a wooden bench and table leads into the open-plan lounge/diner which has a comfy leather settee and feature fireplace with a log effect electric fire. The modern, well-equipped kitchen has plenty of storage cupboards and work surfaces to cook up a few delicious meals while away and there is a shared utility area next to the cottage which houses a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and payphone. The pretty bedroom has a king-size bed and large en-suite complete with bath, separate walk-in shower, washbasin and WC. Outside a large parking area provides private parking for the three cottages.
Chauffeur's Cottage is a true paradise for nature lovers. Surrounded by lush green countryside, there are numerous footpaths taking you along the river, through wooded valleys and towards Heddons Mouth. The National Trust specifically promotes a walk through ancient woodland alongside the River Heddon, to where it meets the sea between some of England's highest cliffs. Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the Heddon Valley is home to a variety of wildlife including otters and the rare high brown fritillary butterfly. You'll also find a restored 19th-century lime kiln on the beach. A ten-minute downhill walk takes you to the Hunters Inn where you will not only be able to taste the best in local cuisine, but also wander through the immaculate gardens and admire the resident peacocks.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely area. Everything was very clean when we arrived, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and the wine and scones with jam and cream were a lovely touch.
A really lovely property set in an unspoilt area of Devon.I thoroughly recommend this property.

A lovely, peaceful location. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. We will almost certainly use it again.
