Description
With distant views across the sea as far as Wales, on a clear day, Milkway Cottage sits in a row of 19th century cottages perched at the top edge of the Exmoor coastal village of Lynton. Guests can look out over the rooftops towards the sea and rocky headlands fading in the distance. Milkway Cottage has subtle decor which brings out the architectural features of this traditional building with curved plasterwork around window reveals showing a great deal of skill and traditional technique in the patient renovation of this beautiful old home. The open plan living area is fresh, light and spacious with windows and a stable door which all enjoy the stunning views. The real fire and beamed ceilings create a warm atmosphere. A modern kitchen with slate floor, skylight and tasteful tiles along with an eye-catching range will have you dining in most nights. On the first floor there are two bedrooms including a spacious Double with great views and a more compact Double at the rear, best suited to one guest. A shared bathroom on the first floor completes the accommodation. The terraced front garden, with a beautiful red-brick path and steps, offers marvellous views while you enjoy a barbecue. Lynton is in an area known as England’s Little Switzerland. This Victorian village has a lovely selection of shops, tea-rooms and cafes and boasts The Lyn and Exmoor Museum. Both Lynton and Lynmouth owe a great deal to Sir George Newnes, who in 1887 along with Thomas Hewitt, began to lay a 900 foot twin track up the steep gradient between the two villages. The unique water operated funicular cliff railway was opened in 1890
