Description
The Loft at Five Watersmeet is situated in the centre of Lynmouth, just a minute’s walk from the wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes and overlooking the East Lyn River.
Sleeping three people in two bedrooms, the apartment takes up the whole of the second floor and has been beautifully decorated to provide spacious, contemporary holiday accommodation. There is a lovely open-plan living and kitchen area with a couple of comfortable sofas near the television, a good-sized breakfast bar capable of seating four people and a modern, well-equipped kitchen with high gloss white units, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There are two pretty bedrooms – a double with views to the front of the apartment, over the river and towards the sea and a cute single room. The bathroom has a white suite with a shower over the bath and a heated towel rail. Being on the second floor, The Loft doesn’t have any private outside space, but has an allocated private parking space in the upper Lyndale car park within 200 yards.
Lynmouth is a timeless village that has recovered from the depths of despair following the floods in 1952. The village was ravaged by torrents of water during the summer of 1952 but has since been lovingly restored, and a memorial museum now stands proudly in the village, offering a sobering experience of the moments after the floods struck. Often known as 'Little Switzerland’, the area is a walker’s paradise – if you’re feeling energetic, try the spectacular Watersmeet circuit, or for something new why not give a geocaching trail a go. For a unique coastal walk, follow the path from Lynton to the iconic Valley of Rocks, famous for its unusual geology and intrepid goats! Both Lynton and Lynmouth owe a great deal to Sir George Newnes, who in 1887 along with Thomas Hewitt, began to lay a 900 foot twin track up the steep gradient between the two villages. The unique water operated cliff railway was opened in 1890 and, apart from needing new track in 1908, operates now as it always has.
