Description
Stags sits in 30 acres of rolling countryside next to a beautiful lake with fishing available for guests. There is a plethora of wildlife including owls, kestrels, buzzards and kingfishers, as well as visits from red deer. The property is all on the same level and has a roomy open plan living area including a spacious fully equipped kitchen, a large dining table and a cosy lounge. There are three stylish bedrooms all served by a good-sized family bathroom with the benefit of a separate cloakroom. The back patio is perfect for barbecues and quiet relaxation. Day tickets for fishing can be bought on site along with a wide choice of fishing tackle and bait. You can also hire fishing equipment.
The cottage is spitting distance from Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild native ponies, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor. Drive north for a day in Barnstaple, which is the commercial and agricultural centre of North Devon. It is a charming place that comfortably blends a handsome past with an energetic, present-day buzz. It has a mix of cutting-edge retail outlets, long-established family owned stores and little boutiques. The pannier market hosts local food producers interspersed with dozens of cafes. At weekends, Barnstaple makes wandering the streets a distinct pleasure, with performers and musicians out to entertain. If the weather turns nasty, you’re well provided for in the town. Let’s Go is Barnstaple’s newest family entertainment complex. There’s also a lovely 1930s cinema in town which offers four modern screens showing the latest releases as well as live screenings of major theatre productions. Head up through the park for a day on the coast in Lynmouth, where you can take a ride on the famous water-powered cliff railway up to Lynton
