Description
Meadow View, and the neighbouring cottage Taw Valley Cottage (also a holiday let sleeping three people), are situated in 400 acres of stunning countryside where you can see herons and kingfishers by the water’s edge, or take a stroll through the woodland and catch site of red deer.
Just outside Umberleigh on Umberleigh Barton Farm which was made famous by Tarka the Otter by Henry Williamson, these cottages have plenty of walks leading from the front door and within the farm’s boundary which take in the beautiful Devonshire countryside. And for the keen fishermen amongst you, you can buy a permit to fish on the river by prior arrangement.
The original farm dates back to the 9th century and two barns have been skilfully converted into high quality holiday accommodation, combining many original features with modern comforts. Meadow View and Taw Valley can be booked together for extended family and friends (a small discount applies if booking both together for July and August).
Once inside Meadow View, a hallway provides a useful place to store coats and boots before entering into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with its floor to ceiling windows, slate floor and vaulted oak beamed ceiling. The well-equipped kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer and there is a large dining table capable of sitting more than three people. A bedroom with a single bed and a shower room with a double width shower complete the accommodation downstairs. A galleried landing has the master bedroom which has a double bed and amazing views over the countryside.
