Description
Milk Churn sits in rolling countryside near the market town of South Molton on a 15 acre estate with landscaped gardens and a tennis court. The former dairy has been converted to create a quality holiday home on the peaceful Cockerham Estate. Guests can get up close to the estate animals, which include alpacas, horses, chickens and lots of birds. Many of the animals have been rescued and nursed back to health by the owners. Guests are welcome to view feeding time, help collect eggs or even watch the alpacas being shorn, which takes place every June. A Devon cream tea awaits you at Milk Churn on your arrival along with a welcome pack full of locally sourced produce. The property has its own south facing patio outside the double entrance doors, where you can enjoy al fresco dining. A shared tennis court and landscaped gardens are all available for guest use. The cottage has a fully equipped modern kitchen/diner, which leads into the cosy lounge with a woodburner in the corner on a raised hearth. The double bedroom and twin room are both upstairs served by a pristine family bathroom. Westward Ho! and Croyde are both about a 30 minute drive for a trip to the beach. Croyde beach is rated as one of the best surfing beaches in the world. There is an RNLI lifeguard service available every day from May to September, during the Easter weekend, every weekend in October and during the October half term. If you like rock pooling, head to each end of the beach. And for walkers, there are several footpaths around the village and up to Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with an amazing view. This whole area is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest for its geological features. Croyde has plenty of places to hire wet suits, surf boards, canoes and fishing equipment. Barnstaple is well worth a visit on the way back from the beach.
