Description

Lake House Farm is a spacious wing of a Victorian farmhouse surrounded by farmland near to the village of Langtree. Sleeping eight people (with a maximum of 6 adults) the house is next to a traditional working farm and the owners are more than happy for guests to watch the milking, collect some eggs, meet the calves or walk around the 120 acres. Entrance into the property is via a hallway which is great for storing wellington boots and coats. The lounge/diner has a lovely open fire for cooler times of the year, plenty of comfortable seating and a dining table which is large enough to seat the whole party. The modern, gallery-style kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer completes the downstairs accommodation, whilst upstairs there are the three bedrooms and a family bathroom which still has its original Victorian bathroom suite and has a separate shower cubicle.

Outside, Lake House Farm has a large lawned garden which overlooks the surrounding farmland. There is a picnic bench and the nearby field, duck pond and stream will provide hours of entertainment. Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many footpaths on the doorstep and the owners of the house are happy for guests to explore the 120 acres of private land. The village of Langtree is about a mile away from the house and has a charming village pub; whilst ten miles takes you to Bideford with its wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. An historic Pannier Market holds both produce and crafts markets twice each week. Many antique shops are scattered amongst the narrow backstreets and alleyways that lead up from the quay and the river. These alleys are known locally as drangs. The tree-lines quay still bustles with fishing vessels, cargo and pleasure boats, and there are regular boat trips to Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel, about 22 miles away.
