Description

Peaceful countryside with woodland, ponds and pastures await you at Ash Cottage – a beautiful characterful cottage near Woolsery which welcomes two dogs. One of a small cluster of barn conversions set in 16 acres of land this three bedroomed cottage has beamed ceilings wooden latched doors and quirky sloping walls and ceilings. The large lounge, with archway through to the kitchen/diner, has a spiral staircase leading to the first floor and comfy settees to accommodate 5 people. The light and airy kitchen/diner is also a good size and has everything you’ll need to cook delicious family meals while on holiday. Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms and the family bathroom, which has a corner bath and shower attachment over it. Outside, Ash Cottage has a private side garden with garden furniture, a shared lawn with great views over the rolling hills nearby, and 16 acres of farmland to explore. There is a communal laundry room with coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers.

The quaint village of Woolsery – more formally known as Woolfardisworthy West, is just over a mile away and has a post office/general store, pub and fish and chip shop. Set within unspoiled rolling North Devon countryside with wonderful coastlines and country walks, the village has a heritage going back to the Doomsday book and beyond. The heart of the village was built around the Norman Church and has grown over time into a thriving community. A few minutes more in the car will take you to the picturesque coastal villages of Hartland, Clovelly and Bucks Mills. The picturesque, historic, fishing village of Clovelly is uniquely special in that it has no cars on its streets. Donkeys and sledges are the only form of transport along its cobbled ways. Its flower-strewn cottages "tumble like a waterfall" down a cleft in the 400-foot cliff to the tiny working port and 14th century quay.

Reviews

Ash Cottage has all home comforts and more, it is situated amongst beautiful Devon countryside but easily accessible, along country lanes, to the main Atlantic Highway. Comfy beds and linen, clean and a perfectly, peaceful retreat after a busy day sight seeing. The house keeper lives locally and is more than happy to help with any querys. There are lovely walks around the property and to have a washing machine within the cottage and a dryer (I found £1.40 dried a full load) in an outhouse just outside was very useful. We holidayed with 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
