Newly renovated Primrose Cottage sits near the centre of Westleigh, just a brisk walk from the more well known village of Instow. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a handy porch leading in to a spacious open plan area which includes lounge, dining room and kitchen all divided by a large feature double sided fireplace with woodburner. There is a good sized dining table and well equipped kitchen for preparing family meals in. In addition there's the option of al fresco dining in the sheltered back courtyard or in the large lawned garden. Three attractive bedrooms on the first floor offer flexible sleeping arrangements with two of the rooms enjoying countryside views towards the Torridge Estuary. Instow enjoys pretty views across the estuary and a walk along the front takes you past the beachfront cricket ground with its magnificent thatched pavilion, one of the oldest in the country. The big event of the year is Appledore and Instow Regatta. First held in 1885, it is a relaxed but competitive event that promotes old traditions of boat-building, while hosting lots of nautical fun and excitement. The Tarka Trail is one of the country’s longest traffic-free paths for walkers and cyclists and Instow is right on it. It follows the route of the old Southern Railway track which halted at Instow Station, linking the village with Waterloo Station in London. A short drive east takes you to Barnstaple, the commercial and agricultural centre of North Devon. It is a charming place that comfortably blends a handsome past with an energetic, present-day buzz. It has a mix of cutting-edge retail outlets, long-established family owned stores and little boutiques. The pannier market hosts local food producers interspersed with dozens of cafes
