Peacefully situated in the West Lyn Valley and surrounded by the natural splendour of Exmoor, this spacious country retreat is one of only two cottages close to the owners own home. Located just half a mile from the pretty Hamlet of Barbrook with garage stores and 2 miles to the renowned coastal village of Lynton.  Hawthorn cottage has been carefully converted from an original barn.  The cottage has been furnished and equipped to a high standard and provides a very comfortable holiday base.  Entering through large glazed doors you are welcomed by a spacious open plan living area with high vaulted ceiling. A shower room is also on this level. A further two attractive bedrooms can be found on the lower ground floor, one with an ensuite and the other served by a family bathroom.  Hawthorne cottage has its own patio, a fully enclosed garden and private off road parking for at least two cars.  Located on a quiet country lane that leads directly onto open moorland and with easy access to dramatic coastal and riverside walks, this is a haven for walkers and nature lovers. The famous twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are connected by the unique water powered cliff railway and offer a wonderful selection of individual shops, cafes, restaurants and the picturesque harbour and rock and shingle beach at Lynmouth have stunning views of high cliffs that tumble down to the sea. Plenty of activities are available locally including riding, fishing, tennis courts, bowls and even star gazing as Exmoor is a designated ‘Dark Sky’ area!  For those who wish to venture further afield there are many local attractions including The Doone Valley, Porlock Weir, Watersmeet and the beautiful sandy surfing beaches of the Golden Coast around Woolacombe and Croyde are within 40 minutes’ drive.

Reviews

Great accommodation in very quite location well presented and very clean. It was a pleasure to be able to relax in good lounge settees and then fall asleep in very comfortable bed. Owners live next door which is great if you need help. The cottage had a very helpful information pack Lovely scones jam and cream on arrival they went down a treat after a long journey many thanks.

Mr Matthew L,

Mr Brian F,

We were very happy with Hawthorn Cottage and the owners Dave and Nina were exceptional, the cottage was cosy, warm and comfortable.

Mrs Christine D,

Lovely holiday cottage in a very peaceful location. Great place to holiday with four legged friends.

Mrs Cindy C,

Hawthorn Cottage was lovely, we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay.

Mrs Rosemary R,

We had a wonderful stay at Hawthorn Cottage. It was very comfortable accommodation, very clean and tidy. We had a lovely welcome from the owners, and on arrival to the cottage, we had a hamper of treats waiting in the dining area which was very kind (and the scones were absolutley fantastic!). We found all the information leaflets useful which were provided in the living room as we found things local which we wouldn't have thought of visiting. We had a few cosy nights in, and the living room set up is perfect - with books, dvds, and boardgames - no one could get bored! The cottage was perfectly located for us to travel around to different towns, the cottage also has beautiful walks over Exmoor on its doorstep and it is a very short drive to Lynton & Lynmouth, where we enjoyed the best food in the local pubs and restaurants. It was hard to leave Hawthorn Cottage - we adored it!
