Description
Prospect Cottage sits on the hillside with beautiful sea views yet just a short walk from the centre of picturesque Lynmouth. This 18th century cottage oozes old world character and charm with many original features including natural stone walls, exposed timbers and many fascinating nooks and crannies. The cottage is accessed by foot and has its own garden, which is rare in this compact village. A sloped path with some steps leads up from the street to the cottage. The front door opens into the roomy open plan living area with an open fire providing a warm heart to the cottage. A well organised country style kitchen leads off and includes an original ceramic sink. The first floor is accessed by steep narrow stairs and has two bedrooms with sea views and a main bathroom. The double room has a vaulted ceiling, exposed roof timbers and lights in original barn fittings. Open stairs lead up to a mezzanine area with seating. A second double room also enjoys sea views. Outside, there is a terraced garden with shingle patio. The pretty village of Lynmouth sits at sea level, following the River Lyn down to the sea, while Lynton sits higher in the trees, full of quaint narrow lanes and independent shops to explore. Often known as Little Switzerland, the area is a walkers' paradise. For a unique coastal walk, follow the path from Lynton to the iconic Valley of Rocks, famous for its unusual geology and intrepid goats. Take a trip on the water-powered funicular cliff train to visit Lynton. A short drive inland takes you to Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild ponies
