Description

Sunsets from the balcony of this well-presented second floor apartment over the estuary at Instow are some of the best in North Devon. Broadwaters is a spacious, light apartment with patio doors leading out from the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner onto the balcony – a perfect spot to watch the yachtsmen go by. The well-equipped kitchen is at one end of the living area with a large window overlooking the balcony; whilst comfortable settees are well positioned in the middle to make the most of the view. At the far end, there is a good-sized dining table. An inner hallway leads to both of the bedrooms and the family bathroom which has a shower over the bath. Outside, the apartment benefits from its own parking space, plus shared additional guest parking. Broadwaters is a short walk from the centre of Instow - a village which needs to be explored at a gentle pace. Stroll along its pretty front to drink in the views of the estuary or pause to admire the beachfront cricket ground and remarkable thatched pavilion – one of the oldest in the country. There are plenty of family friendly pubs to enjoy refreshments or delicious home cooked food, whilst the award winning deli and tea rooms provide an incredible choice of local and homemade produce.

Given Instow’s position on the estuary, it is no surprise that the big event of the year is a maritime one. The Appledore & Instow Regatta, first held in 1885, is a relaxed but competitive event that promotes old traditions of boat-building while hosting lots of nautical fun and excitement. Running through Instow the Tarka Trail is one of the country’s longest traffic-free walking and cycling paths. It follows the route of the old Southern Railway track which halted at Instow Station before continuing on to Bideford and is now popular with cyclists and dog walkers.  Tapeley Park gardens and tea rooms can be found nearby whilst the surfing beach at Westward Ho! is just a short drive.  During the summer months a small ferry crosses the estuary between Instow and Appledore.
