Description

Ocean Side sits on the top of a cliff above the water's edge with huge bay windows which give the impression of taking guests almost out above the Atlantic. It is a view which must only be rivalled by that from the balcony of a suite on a cruise ship. And yet, the property is just a short walk from the centre of Ilfracombe. The apartment is part of a striking Victorian terrace and offers spacious and classy accommodation. Being so close to the edge of the ocean makes winter breaks dramatic as the waves crash in spectacular fashion right under your nose. The modern fully equipped kitchen has a large dining table ideal for family meals. Stairs lead down to the two bedrooms. The master enjoys sea views and has patio doors and both bedrooms are served by a stylish bathroom. The lower ground floor is on the same level as the communal terrace (it is recommended that young children be supervised on the terrace, although there is a good barrier between the terrace and the steep drop). Ilfracombe has a delightful mix of Victorian and Regency architecture, pretty harbour, independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. The harbour, with Damien Hirst’s infamous bronze statue Verity, and the Tunnels Beaches, are well worth a visit along with the award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium, fascinating Ilfracombe Museum, Larkstone Leisure Park, Hele Cornmill and Chambercombe Manor - one of Britain's most haunted houses. A short drive inland takes you to Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild native ponies, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor. For surfers, head west to Woolacombe, which boasts three miles of award-winning golden sands
