Jewel Cottage is just 500 metres from the sand and shale beach at Hele Day near Ilfracombe. The beautifully renovated cottage sleeps six people in comfort with a separate lounge, dining room and kitchen – and has the added benefit of a shower room on the ground floor and bathroom with a separate shower on the first floor. The living room has a wooden floor, a gas effect wood burner, a large Smart television and plenty of comfortable chairs and settees. A slate floor and granite work surfaces add a modern touch to the kitchen which has a stunning yellow AGA (along with a separate electric cooker) and a small kitchen table. There is a separate dining room with a table large enough to seat the whole party. A useful shower room completes the accommodation downstairs, whilst upstairs, there are three bedrooms – one with zip “n” link bed for flexible sleeping arrangements - please confirm bed configuration at time of booking and a family bathroom with a separate shower cubicle.
Outside, the cottage benefits from a pretty, sunny lawned garden. Just a couple of minutes’ walk away is part sandy/part shingle beach, which is popular with families looking for a quiet day out with facilities on hand. Explore the numerous rock pools with fishing nets and discover the secret smugglers' caves. Then, at very low tide, clamber around the rocks to 'Fishing Rock' or 'Blythes Cove'. The beach is also popular with canoeists and larger ships can be viewed out to sea, so bring your binoculars. After an active morning, why not visit Hele Corn Mill, a 16th century working watermill and tearooms just 300m from the beach. Described as 'a small oasis in the village of Hele', there is something for all the family; a tour of the mill and demonstration of the 1920s National Diesel Engine for Dad; a millstone hunt and photo quiz for the kids; and a leisurely mill-made cream tea (including traditional Devonshire splits) for Mum.

Lovely cottage providing excellent base for family holiday
A lovely cottage, very well equipped.A good area for plenty of activities.
The cottage was cosy and warm, a very welcoming house to come back to after a day out. In fact had weather been bad house would have been very comfortable. Owners were very helpful as was the housekeeper. A charming place to stay in every way.
The property is very lovely, a real home from home. I found the kitchen very easy to use as it was well equipped with all that was needed to cater for a family of 4. The welcome package was delightful too.
Absolutely fabulous cottage furnished to a high standard with every possible thing you could need thought of. We had a great time and made good use of the gorgeous garden in the sunshine. Would highly recommended this cottage to anyone.
Jewel Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The cottage garden, with table and chairs, was a delight. It was ideally situated for viewing the North Devon coast. We would stay there again.
