Sitting in an elevated position half a mile from the centre of Ilfracombe and boasting amazing views is The Farthings – a fantastic home and annexe together sleeping ten people (in 2021 The Farthings will only sleep 8 - annex not available). With a hot tub on the decking and a terraced garden, this contemporary holiday accommodation provides spacious living for a large family or group of friends. Entrance is on the ground level with stairs leading up to the apartment which is then on one level. The open-plan kitchen/diner has patio doors opening out onto a wide decking with a sunken hot tub, sun loungers and a table and chairs – perfect for watching the world go by at any time of the day. The living has floor to ceiling windows to make the most of the view, a woodburning stove for cooler evenings and plenty of comfortable leather settees and chairs. All four bedrooms are beautifully decorated – two of which have en-suite facilities – and there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. A further bedroom is on the ground floor in the Farthings Nest Annexe along with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and a bathroom.

The popular Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe is approx. half a mile away.  Here you will find a choice of family friendly pubs, restaurants and independent shops.  Boat and fishing trips are available from the harbour where the famous Damien Hirst statue of Verity attracts much attention.  Ilfracombe also has an indoor swimming pool, golf club, aquarium and museum.  Stunning coastal walks can be enjoyed direct from the town.

Thank you Steph and Mick for a fantastic stay at the Farthings. It was lovely and clean when we arrived, and the house was very well equipped despite covid restrictions. The fresh flowers, coffee, tea and cake were a lovely touch. We had the use of the Farthings Nest too, but didn’t use the kitchen or living room down there at all because the upstairs was so spacious. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the enormous TV on rainy afternoons - the children thought it was like going to the cinema! The children also loved rolling and running down the hill in the garden, and the adults were spoilt for choice with different places to sit outside. The thing I hadn’t appreciated from the photos was how fantastic the views are from almost all of the house. The owners have really made the most of this with huge floor to ceiling windows in the master bedroom and the living room. It meant that even on wet, windy days, we didn’t feel cooped up and could enjoy the view of the sea. Thank you again, and I’m sure we’ll be back!

Mrs Charlotte R,

We loved our stay at The Farthings. The size and quality of the property far exceeded our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. It’s worth noting that Ilfracombe is very hilly so whilst it isn’t far from the beach, the walk back is very steep! ( taxi’s are very reasonable tho) It’s the perfect property for a family holiday and the views from the hot tub are amazing! The hosts were in contact with us in case we had any problems (we didn’t!) and left us a little hamper and some milk which were well received when we arrived after a long drive. We will definitely be back. Thank you The Farthings!

Lynn J,

The house is perfect and the photos really don’t do it justice. Has everything you need, lots of space, fabulous views and the hot tub was loved by all!

Mrs Clare B,

As we visited during the pandemic we did not venture out as much as we would normally. We had an online food delivery which was prompt. The beach/coast was not in walking distance but there were plenty of coastal places to visit and the beaches were not crowded. The property was very well maintained with plenty of living space and very well equipped.

Mrs Lesley T,

Lovely house with everything we needed.

Mr Chris B,

Fabulous property, excellent location, good quality fixtures and fittings. Deck and hot tub have great views. Highly recommended for family groups.

Mr Philip S,

I would like to say that this is a superb property, the layout of the building is excellent and attention to detail inside and out is impeccable, I doff my hat to the owners for having fine taste in furnishings and garden skills.

Miss Lynn P,

Amazing! A fab holiday house - great for adults and children! Lovely views, great hot tub.

Mr Malcolm O,

The property is absolutely perfect! All of the rooms are finished to the highest standard and are just beautiful. Our parties ages were from 15-53 and it was loved by all. The view from the deck was gorgeous and the hot tub was a real treat. Fabulous holiday property, highly recommended.

Mrs Emma P,

Fabulous place with great views, in all we had fab time.

Mr Paul C,

Thank you for organising the gorgeous weather for our stay at this stunning house! What a way to spend two milestone Birthdays. Loved sipping some bubbles in the hot tub while enjoying the fantastic views. Thank you

Mr Cheryl D,

Fantastic location and views. High standard of fixtures, fittings, mattresses and bedding. The owner has obviously spent a lot of time and effort in perfecting the property. This is the best property we have ever rented.

Dr Keith L,
