The Chapel is a unique, intimate converted private chapel which is situated within the grounds of the historic Pickwell Manor. Pickwell Manor can be dated beyond the 10th Century and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Rich in history and nature, the shared grounds of the Manor are ideal for exploring, and include a forest trail, tennis court, campfire, BBQ area and exquisite gardens for the whole family to enjoy. The main property at Pickwell Manor has been tastefully and carefully divided into ten apartments, each of which retain the building’s original features whilst also offering unique and comfortable holiday accommodation. The Chapel was originally used by the Lord and Lady of the manor in the 16th century for private prayer, and the original exterior has been lovingly maintained.

Located just 1 mile away from the grounds is the quaint village of Georgeham, a historic parish in close proximity to some of the most dramatic beaches of the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, flanked by the rocky, picturesque headlands of Baggy Point and Saunton Down. The village includes a Victorian school, a medieval church and two 17th Century public houses.

Situated within just 2 miles of some of the finest beaches in the South West, the property is ideal for access to the picturesque and award-winning beachfronts of Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe. These beaches are amongst the most popular surf and swim spots in North Devon, and are perfect for families, sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts alike. There are numerous beauty spots in which to relax with a picnic, an abundance of walking spots, or for more active outdoor pursuits, there are many activities to choose from within easy reach of the grounds.

The Chapel is a beautifully unique split floor apartment with a private entrance detached from the main wing of Pickwell Manor. A few steps up from the main car park/courtyard, The Chapel retains the original stone exterior and feature door, with a cascading facia of ivy. The apartment has been uniquely designed to replicate modern camper van living, with a 50’s diner style dining and seating area for two in the well-stocked kitchen. The apartment is served by a wet room with WC and basin on the ground floor.

A quirky, narrow paddle-style staircase (which may be unsuitable for guests with restricted mobility) leads to the snug, intimate bedroom with high ceilings and cosy interiors throughout. The small chapel window looks out over to the grand exterior of the opulent Pickwell Manor without compromising the immense sense of privacy within the accommodation. A door to the rear of the bedroom and a few steps lead to a private terrace with outdoor seating, and for the ultimate in secluded luxury, a large outdoor bath for the exclusive use of guests of The Chapel. Perfect for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening!

Within the grounds there is a woodland trail, complete with forest basketball, treasure hunt and camp-building kits. Also, within the grounds are shared facilities of a games room, wendy house, tennis court, basketball hoop, giant chess set, croquet and campfire. Private parking, one electric car charging point. Putsborough beach car parking pass available for each apartment, £20 refundable deposit will be required p.o.a
On a practical note, there is a shared laundry room, wetsuit rinsing, and surf and bike store.
